The german "Strumpfhose" is the most general word. It's used for any kind of pantyhose or tights no matter how thick they are.
When you are talking about the sheer ones which are called "pantyhose" in America and "sheer tights" in Britain you use the term "Feinstrumpfhose" in german. Thick tights or opaques that are not transparent are called "blickdichte Strumpfhosen" in german. Did anyone mention Denmark? In Denmark pantyhose and tights are called "Strømpebuks" - similar to the norwegian word. In Sweden pantyhose are called "Strumpbyxor" or "tights". |
